The Delhi Capitals which was earlier known as Delhi Daredevils, founded in 2008  is a franchise cricket team that represents the city of Delhi in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In December 2018, the team changed its name from the Delhi Daredevils to Delhi Capitals .The charter is jointly owned by the GMR Group and the JSW Group. The team’s home ground is Arun Jaitley Stadium, located in New Delhi.The team will be competing in the 2020 edition of the will compete between September and November 2020.

Delhi Capitals for the first time in seven years qualified for the IPL playoffs in 2019, and is the only team which have never appeared in an IPL final. The team currently being guided by captain  Shreyas Iyer with Ricky Ponting as team coach. Virender Sehwag is the leading run-scorer for the Capitals and Amit Mishra is the leading wicket-taker.

During the IPL 2020 auction Delhi Capitals bought West Indies batsman Shimron Hetmyer for the enormous Rs 7.75 crore after going into it with a base price of just Rs 50 lakh. He was the West Indies’ highest scorer in the three-match T20I series with 120 runs.During the first ODI which west Indies won  he scored 139.

Two former captains of IPL teams  Ravichandran Ashwin and Ajinkya Rahanehave brought in by  Delhi Capitals (DC)for IPL 2020, however ShreyasIyer who will continue to lead them.On September 20, starting their first match against Kings XI Punjab, DC will be looking to set up their challenge in the UAE and is one of the teams have never won the IPL title

According to ESPNcricinfo  the team of Delhi Capitals wanted to buy Eoin Morgan, Glenn Maxwell, Sam Curran, Pat Cummins and Jaydev Unadkat in the auction, which could not happen and the team had to turn to other options.The team will have to use their limited resources to dominate the home ground.Nevertheless , it was a good job by the capitals that they bought  Hetmyer and Alex Carrie.No batsman of the team can bowl and the lack of accurate backups of Rabada could be overshadowed by the team.

The Delhi-based franchise renowned itself to Delhi Capitals in 2019 season and with the new name got the better results. Being headed by young captain Shreyas Iyer and the benefaction of a talented players helped Delhi Capitals make it to the playoffs last year. The team would be aiming for an even better show this time.

In view of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic in Mumbai  On 13 March 2020, the BCCI postponed the tournament until 15 April. Narendra Modi On 14 April said that the lockdown in India would last until at least 3 May 2020.The BCCI suspended the tournament indefinitely due to the pandemic the following day.

The Indian government relaxed nation-wide restrictions on sports events On 17 May 2020, allowing events to take place behind closed doors On 24 May.The decision on whether or not to allow the tournament to be conducted in 2020 will be made by the Indian government based on “the situation of the pandemic” In June 2020 as stated by Indian sports minister Kiren Rijiju . On 24 July 2020 the BCCI confirmed that their preference was to host the tournament in India, possibly between September and October, and it got confirmed that the tournament would start from 19 September 2020

RavichandranAshwin

An Indian international cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin ,an all-rounder who bats right-handed and bowls right-arm off break. He plays for Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket and Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. He is the fastest Indian bowler to reach the 50-, 100-, 150-, 200-, 250-, 300- and 350-wicket mark in Test cricket in terms of number of innings. He became the third Indian to win the ICC Cricketer of the Year award in 2016. Before he was traded to Delhi Capitals he was the skipper of Kings XI Punjab for the last two IPL seasons.

ShimronHetmyer

A Guyanese cricketer Shimron Odilon Hetmyer  plays for the West Indies. For the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup he was part of the West Indies’ squad. He was named as the captain of the West Indies squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in December 2015. In 2018 The International Cricket Council (ICC) named Hetmyer as one of the five breakout stars in men’s cricket. Hetmyer scored his 1,000th run in ODIs against Bangladesh On 17 June 2019.

KagisoRabada

​A South African international cricketer  KagisoRabada who plays all formats of the game.He is known by the nickname KG he is a fast bowler and plays domestic cricket for the Highveld Lions.

In November 2014 he made his South African debut in limited-overs cricket and in November 2015 he made his Test debut. He became the youngest bowler to take 150 wickets in Tests (23 years and 50 days) In July 2018.

Rabada became the first cricketer to win six awards at Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) annual dinner in July 2016 including the prize for Cricketer of the Year.He again won six awards at CSA’s annual dinner, including Cricketer of the Year, Test Cricketer and ODI Cricketer of the Year in July 2018. Wisden named him the best young player in the world In August 2018.

Rishabh Pant

A professional Indian cricketer  Rishabh Rajendra Pant who plays for India, Delhi, and the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League, a dazzling left-handed wicket-keeper batsman.At the age of 19 he has gone through all the ups and downs of a cricketing career. In the 2016 world cup he came into reckoning after his exploits for India Under-19.He lost his place to KL Rahul in the ODI team who has been brilliant touch, both with the bat and behind the stumps. Shikhar Dhawan

An Indian international cricketer Shikhar Dhawan ,a left-handed opening batsman and an occasional right-arm off break bowler, He plays for Delhi in domestic cricket and Delhi Capitals in the IPL. At the 2015 World Cup, he was the leading run-scorer for India and became the fastest Indian to reach 3,000 ODI runs in the following year. During IPL 2017 , he was bought by the Delhi Daredevils for 4.5 crores and in the 2018 IPL auction, he was bought by the Mumbai Indians for  5.4 crores.Later he was ruled out of the entire tournament due to an injury.

Eoin Morgan

An Irish-born cricketer,a left-handed batsman,who captains the England cricket team in limited overs cricket. Morgan is the all-time leading run scorer and most capped player for England in ODI matches as of December 2019.He can turn out to be the match-winner for KKR With his sharp cricket sense and batting abilities.

Dinesh Karthik

An Indian wicket-keeper and batsman who made his debut for the Indian cricket team in 2004. In the 2008 Indian Premier League Karthik played  as wicket-keeper for the Delhi Daredevils, scoring 145 runs at 24.16 with a strike rate 135.51.KKR will be working under karthik’s Captaincy.

Rahul tripathi

An Indian cricketer who plays for Maharashtra ,a right-handed batsman,  the leading run-scorer for Maharashtra in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy, with 504 runs in eight matches was bought by the Rising Pune Supergiants team for the 2017 Indian Premier League for Inr.10 lakhs inFebraury 2017.During January 2018 he was bought by the Rajasthan Royals in the 2018 IPL auction. The Ranchi-born batsman had shown no signs of his inherent capabilities – having performed rather modestly in all formats of the game until then.  he was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the 2020 Indian Premier League in the 2020 IPL auction.

Nitishrana

An Indian first-class cricketer who plays for Delhi in domestic cricket, an all-rounder, a left-handed batsman and right-arm off-break bowler who is also a member of the Kolkata Knight Riders squad in the Indian Premier League (IPL). An aggressive left-handed batsman who bowls part-time offspin, NitishRana was one of the shining lights for Delhi in an otherwise dark 2015-16 season, which was plagued by off-field controversies. He has become the captain of Delhi In November 2018 replacing Gautam Gambhir.

After getting released from the MI squad, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) came calling ahead of the 2018 auctions and since then, he has become an integral part of the set-up, grabbing headlines with his match-winning knocks.

Rana made his List A and T20 debuts for Delhi in the 2012-13 season but played his first Ranji Trophy match only in the 2015-16 season. He had an impressive debut first-class season.He wipped out 613 runs in 8 games at an average of 55.72 in the 2017-18 Ranji season.
