Kings XI Punjab is one of the team participating in the IPL among 8 teams ,competing its 13th season this 2020. From the letter sequence existing in the team banner as “K J H P H “ we can get to know about the areas covered by the team are Kashmir, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana. KL Rahul will direct the team as captain this season , declared by the team Co-owner Ness Wadia during the IPL auction. The team will be handled by KL Rahul after the release of Ravichandran Ashwin. Rahul as outstanding Captain will try to get the team the title. The kxip bought Australia’s player Glenn Maxwell for Rs 10.75 crore during the IPL auction. Right now the team is being captained by KL Rahul with Anil Kumble as team coach.
In spite of having one of the best squads each year, Kings Xi have been the persisting underachievers in the 12 editions of the IPL till date. In the first season they made a promising start and reached the semi-finals but the team graph has gone down from there onwards.
KXIP team with high profile being owned by famous owners Preity Zinta and Ness Wadia ,but the team has given bad performance in the IPL barring two seasons.
The team reached their dream of winning the trophy excruciatingly in the year 2014, but they lost it against Kolkata Knight Riders in the final.
In spite of changing their squad, captains and coaching staff, the team haven’t been able to make it to the playoffs ever since 2014.The team has tried all the probability to win but still its one of the team among two who haven’t won the competition. Rahul will be the 12th player to direct KXIP, the joint-most number of captains any franchise has ever had in the IPL along with Delhi Capitals.
Before the December auction the team has released 12 players and then spent over Rs 68 crore to buy the likes of Glenn Maxwell, Sheldon Cottrell, Deepak Hooda, Ravi Bishnoi, Chris Jordan etc.
Chris Gayle and Rahul are Catastrophic opening pair of the team. . They also have all-rounders Neesham and KrishnappaGowtham in their ranks. The team looks superb on the paper and on current form but we have to wait and watch the performance in the field.

The squad once again looks outstanding on paper and on current form but it will all boil down to how they perform on the field once the tournament kicks-off on March 29.In view of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic in mumbai On 13 March 2020, the BCCI postponed the tournament until 15 April. Narendra Modi On 14 April said that the lockdown in India would last until at least 3 May 2020.The BCCI suspended the tournament indefinitely due to the pandemic the following day.
Kings XI Punjab is aiming to give better performance after the years of inconsistency under the captaincy of Rahul for the first time. Chris Gayle, the Universe Boss and James Neesham are two entertainers both on and off the field and they may be wanting to play cricket the Punjabi style, which is plenty of fun and aggression. With Sheldon Cottrell in the line-up as well as great bowling in the form of Mohammed Shami, Kings XI Punjab can go the entire distance in IPL 2020.
The Indian government relaxed nation-wide restrictions on sports events On 17 May 2020,
allowing events to take place behind closed doors On 24 May. The decision on whether or not to allow the tournament to be conducted in 2020 will be made by the Indian government based on “the situation of the pandemic” In June 2020 as stated by Indian sports minister Kiren Rijiju . On 24 July 2020 the BCCI confirmed that their preference was to host the tournament in India, possibly between September and October, and it got confirmed that the tournament would start from 19 September 2020

Kings XI Punjab is hoping to go all the way this year and lift their IPL trophy under KL Rahul’s Captaincy.Though its really difffcult for the players to accustom themselves to the hot and humid conditions in the Gulf country .Wishing them good luck for the upcoming tournament here we go with the players to watch for.
An Indian international cricketer Mohammed Shami Ahmed is a right-arm fast bowler, who consistently bowls around the 140 to 145 km/h. He is also a reverse swing specialist. He joined the Kings XI team back in 2019 and picked up 19 wickets, fetching the leading wicket-taker for them. His bowling form will be key for the success of KXIP.
An Australian international cricketer who currently plays ODI and Twenty20 cricket for Australia known for his dramatic shot making and spontaneity in the short form of the game. During 2014 IPL season Maxwell had scored 552 runs for KXIP and helped them to get their first and only IPL final appearance till date. This will be Maxwell’s second term with KXIP.
A Jamaican cricketer, young in his 40 and the world is looking for him all the time, Yes exactly its Chris Gayle who is part of the KXIP. Gayle is known for his characteristic hitting, imposing physique, and timing. He attributes the latter to being very thin when young, and having a heavy bat.
He had outstanding seasons with the Royal Challengers Bangalore and during IPL 2018 auction he was bought by KXIP. He has gained 3163 runs in 85 innings for RCB at a brilliant average of 42 and a high strike rate of 152.7.He has given the best while playing for KXIP, scoring 490 runs and 368 runs in IPL 2018 and IPL 2019 respectively.
K L Rahul
An Indian international cricketer who plays for Karnataka in domestic cricket and captains Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League. A right-handed batsman and a wicket-keeper and the exciting player to watch out from KXIP this season as their captain KL Rahul. He became the part of KXIP during IPL 2018 and since then he has been absolutely enormous for the team, scoring 593 runs and 659 runs in the last two seasons respectively at an average of 53.90 and 54.91. Rahul has been charged with the Captaincy and his form both as a batsman and as a captain will determine KXIP’s fate in this season’s IPL.
A Trinidadian cricketer who plays for the West Indies cricket team in international cricket and for the Trinidad and Tobago in West Indian domestic matches.He was expected to be one of the biggest buys for Kings XI Punjab in last season but the left-hander failed to make an impact, scoring only 168 runs in 7 matches. However KXIP showed faith and retained him for IPL 2020.Of course he would be looking to repay the faith with an impactful performance this season.
A New Zealand international cricketer James Douglas Sheahan Neesham known as Jimmy Neesham who plays all formats of the game.He became the focus of attention as a promising all-rounder in the U-19 World Cup of 2010. After making his first-class debut, Neesham was called into New Zealand’s T20I squad for the series against South Africa in 2012-2013.The Kiwi all-rounder was snapped up by Delhi in the 2014 Indian T20 League auctions and was later bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the following season.
A Barbadian-born English cricketer Christopher James Jordan is a right-arm fast bowler and a late-order right-handed batsman. Being a quality death bowler and for some hard-hitting shots lower down the order he was drafted for the first time by the Royal Challengers Bangalore during IPL 2016. In the 2017 edition he was grabbed by the Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs. 50 Lakh. He burst on the county circuit as a 18-year old in 2007 when he picked up 20 wickets in five county championship games for Surrey.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman
An Afghan cricketer Mujeeb Ur RahmanZadran , who plays for the Afghanistan national cricket team. At the age of 16 years and 325 days,two months after his international debut, he became the youngest player to take a five-wicket haul in a One Day International match.
