The team never has scarcity of fan followers with some of their players having already lit up the tournament over the years. The team has earned most popularity because of the celebrity owners ,qualified for the IPL playoffs for the first time in 2011. KKR got into the auction with 35.65 Cr INR in the wallet. They picked up Australian all-rounder Pat Cummins for a whopping 15.50 Cr, the highest amount for an overseas player at the auction which was really the big amount.He was bought for INR 15.5 crores, by by two-time IPL winner Kolkata Knight Riders.He has become the overpriced playerEver in IPL history.Aside this the KKR also brought in 48-year-old leg-spinner Praveen Tambe in their team.At the base price of INR 20lakh he was bought.They also made England captain Eoin Morgan part of their team for 5.25 Cr. Along with this they have great players like Rahul Tripathi, Tom Banton andChris Green.
Karthik has assured KKR will give 100% in contempt of the players like others from India and many other parts of the world not having played any competitive cricket in latter remembrance.
The Indian government relaxed nation-wide restrictions on sports events On 17 May 2020,
allowing events to take place behind closed doors On 24 May.The decision on whether or not to allow the tournament to be conducted in 2020 will be made by the Indian government based on “the situation of the pandemic” In June 2020 as stated by Indian sports minister Kiren Rijiju . On 24 July 2020 the BCCI confirmed that their preference was to host the tournament in India, possibly between September and October, and it got confirmed that the tournament would start from 19 September 2020.

During IPL 2017 , he was bought by the Delhi Daredevils for 4.5 crores and in the 2018 IPL auction, he was bought by the Mumbai Indians for 5.4 crores.Later he was ruled out of the entire tournament due to an injury.
