No Clarity on Availability of Strokes

However the England Star all-rounder Ben Stokes, who was expected to play a big role for the team in this year IPL is yet to join the team as he has had to go to New Zealand to visit his ailing father, the Royals camp is anxious to know about his availability but coach Andrew McDonald doesn’t want to keep second-guessing the situation.

RR Team Profile

An endorsed cricket team based in Jaipur, Rajasthan, that plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is The Rajasthan Royals (often abbreviated as RR). As one of the initial eight IPL franchises the team is founded in 2008 and based at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Titled as the “moneyball” team of the IPL, the Royals are known to ascertain, vague, high potential talent but also having their involvement in many controversies and scandals.

Although declared as title contender by the media and fans the team won the inaugural edition of the IPL although under the captaincy of Shane Warne. During Rahul Dravid’s captaincy the team also won the runners-up of the 2013 Champions League Twenty20. The team is embedded with a run-scorer  Ajinkya Rahane with 2705 runs and the leading wicket-taker  Shane Watson, with 67.

Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings teams have been suspended for two years over a 2013 betting scandal because of the  verdict reached by a panel appointed by the Supreme Court of India On 14 July 2015, because of which they could not participate in both the 2016 and 2017 IPL tournaments. They made their existence in the 2018 season.

The team which cannot be easily assorted is Rajasthan Royals. The champions made the  big changes to their squad during the trading season and later during the auction. Ajinkya Rahane – who was the captain of the franchise until the last few games of the previous season – has been traded to Delhi Capitals. Captain Steve Smith will be hoping for a better show from his team in this season. The team will be missing the services of England’s pace sensation Jofra Archer this year. The team is currently being captained by Steve Smith. The franchise of Rajasthan has appointed Australian coach Andrew McDonald as a team coach.

Because of the health issues of his father, Stokes left the test series between England and Pakistan midway and still its not clear will he be available for this IPL season. Right now he is in New Zealand with his family after a 14-day quarantine, and it is expected that he may miss the first half of the tournament. Also, possibilities of his opting out of the full season can also not be ruled out. This will be a massive setback for Rajasthan.

The burden will be on Steve Smith, Jos Buttler, David Miller and Jofra Archer  in  the absence of Stokes and fans are expecting a lot from Robin Uthappa, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson and Karthik Tyagi.
